I’ve always been fascinated by bees and their incredible role in nature. I wanted to create a character that embodied the qualities I admire in bees—bravery, hard work, and community spirit. Annie is a reflection of these traits, and I hope his story inspires children to embrace their own courage and kindness.
Writing “Annie” was a joyful experience. I started with the main themes I wanted to convey and built the story around Annie’s character. I worked closely with my illustrator to ensure the visuals brought the story to life in a way that would captivate young readers. Each step, from drafting to final edits, was focused on creating a book that would be both entertaining and meaningful.
I hope children learn that bravery comes in many forms and that even small acts of courage can make a big difference. I also want to highlight the importance of friendship and community. Annie’s adventures show that we’re stronger when we work together and support one another.
I’m currently working on a new book that follows another adventurous character in the natural world. I can’t reveal too much yet, but it will also focus on important life lessons through a fun and engaging story. Stay tuned!
My advice is to read a lot and write what you love. Don’t be afraid to let your imagination run wild. Every story has the potential to touch someone’s heart, so keep writing and sharing your unique voice.
Thank you, Jamie, for sharing your insights and the story behind “Annie” We’re excited to see what adventures you create next! Readers, be sure to check out Annie’s book and explore the world of courage and friendship with your little ones.
